ParticipantI want to add meals to my website. However, I could see that I could either add it to “Restaurant Menu” or “Product” (both on the wordpress admin dashboard). They both have “Categories” and both were used in the demo imported. Can you please tell me how to use both as their similarities, difference and interdependence was not mentioned in the document.
I want to know their significance and usage. And do I just delete the categories and products/menu that came with the demo once I create my product/menu?
Thank you.

KeymasterHello sapaul,
Which one to use would only depend on your needs.
The “Restaurant Menu” is a custom post type. It was meant to be used by restaurants that just need to list their Menu, but do not need online orders functionality. They can be linked to existing WooCommerce products if needed for some reason, but it’s not their original purpose.
If you need online orders functionality, you’d need to stick to the WooCommerce products.
I guess your product categories are different from the demo categories. In this case it would be best to just delete the demo categories and create your own. Same goes for the demo products. However, I’d suggest learning how are things organized and how they work before you delete the demo content.
Basically, these are just standard WordPress/WooCommerce features, that’s why they are not specially listed in the theme’s documentation.
Should you have more questions, just let us know.

ParticipantThank you for your response and the clarifications.
You suggested that I could post products and categories in the “Restaurant Menu” tab and link it to “Product”in woocommerce for online ordering functionality, how do I do the linking? Or is there a way I could get woocommerce to display products with all the fields in “Restaurant Menu” e.g size (330ml), nutrition facts, Allergey, DI and other fields in Restaurant Menu?
Thank you.

KeymasterHello sapaul,
each “Restaurant Menu” entry can have a button you can link wherever you are, but that’s not optiomal, as you’d need to create your products twice – once as menu entry and once as a product.
I’d suggest stick with the WooCommerce products only and set them to display in list view (Theme Options > Shop > Product Columns). They’d look just like the restaurant menu entries. You can see this setting in action here:

ParticipantHi. Sorry for jumping in but i have a question related to your answer on this thread.
Since i understood the difference between Restaurant Menu and Product of Woocommerce I have a question :
How can I make Woocomerce listings look like Restaurant menu listings ?you said “I’d suggest stick with the WooCommerce products only and set them to display in list view (Theme Options > Shop > Product Columns). They’d look just like the restaurant menu entries. You can see this setting in action here:
But I cannot find it on the Theme Options > Shop

KeymasterHello dvougas,
Under Theme Options > Shop tab look for default product columns. List view is the last option in the selector (drop down).
