I am trying to exclude a category from the BLOG but the BLOG page is handled by the theme and not by the page I created. Is there a way for the BLOG page to actually be the page I specified in Settings so that I can manipulate it?

    Hi pcheng,

The Blog page is always the page set under Settings > Reading. All WordPress websites work the same way. However, the page set as blog page can’t be edited. It’s the same no matter which theme you use.

As for excluding categories from the blog, I am afraid that would not be possible too. It’s just how WordPress works.

I actually have several WordPress sites and I can include and exclude categories. It is not how WordPress works.

In your own theme if you look under the Masonry Blog you will see that there is an option to select categories.

The problem is that even if I make a BLOG page and set it up like I want it always goes to your hardcoded page. What I want is a way to point the BLOG to the page I created.

That’s absolutely doable and not even theme related. The blog page is set under Settings > Reading. 🙂
