You’re probably getting annoyed with all my questions and I think I’ve posted more than any other user. I just hope other people will find my inquiries useful as well.
When I upload a video into the icon teaser “pop-up” window, it shows up very small initially, but then goes to the correct size upon resizing the pop-up window.
As a work-around, I embedded a YouTube video where I define the video width and size, but the problem with this workaround is that in portrait mode on mobile devices it flows out of the window.
If possible, I would prefer to upload my own video and have it be the correct size in the pop-up window. How can this be fixed? Please refer to the attached link which has a video file of the pop-up resizing error as well as an image of the mobile error (with youtube embed method):
I have checked your website. Unfortunately, this is not theme related. It’s how WordPress embeds video. Your self-hosted video just doesn’t have a defined size.
As for the youtube videos, you can siply paste the video link. It should work fine this way. No need to paste a special embed code and the auto-generated video would be fluid.
Streaming videos from external source is always better. Hosting your own videos would exhaust your hosting server resources pretty fast and may slow down your site.
Of course I am aware that it’s better to use an external source – the only reason I used my host was because the video seemed more fluid that way.
I created a workaround by using the embed code for desktops and having the mobile and smaller devices show just the youtube video with no embed code (as you suggested by just using the link). However, in vertical mode on a mobile device, the youtube video still does not fit inside the white frame. You can check my website on a mobile device to see what I mean (just go to my homepage and click on any of the cleaning icons).
In other words, simply pasting the YouTube link does not make the video fluid. Please check and let me know if there is a solution.
Pasting the link should display the video in it’s original dimensions taking the entire available space. However, it can’t always fill the screen. This is not theme related. It’s how videos work on mobiles.
As always, thank you for your response, but I think you are misunderstanding the issue.
The video DOES NOT need to take up the entire available space. On mobile devices in portrait mode, the video width extends OUT of the pop-up window and pop-up window is not sized correctly. Refer to this screenshot:
The only way that this error does not occur is if you use the “upload media” option. I’m guessing there is no fix for this when it comes to youtube links and using this pop-up content feature?
