    Dear Support,

I’m following the Althemist instructions for installing a child theme, but it won’t activate. I got the child theme for Rigid which you created.

When I clicked activate, it took me through to the WordPress dashboard, and it appeared to work, but when I went back to themes to double check, the child theme still needs to be activated.

Do I need to deactivate the parent theme first, and use the child theme instead of the parent theme?
I thought they worked together but perhaps I can only have one activated at a time?

    Confused! 🙂

    Thanks
    Belinda

    Hello Belinda,

No, the main theme should not be disabled. You’d need to upload and activate the child theme while the parent theme is active. Of course after that, only the child theme will be listed as “active” theme, but it still depends on the parent one.

And, yes, when you install the child theme, you’d need to activate it. 🙂

    Here are the steps:

    1. The Rigid theme must be active

    2. Upload the rigid-child theme

    3. Activate the rigid-child theme

    That’s it! 🙂

    Regards,
    Dimitar
