ParticipantHi,
How do I set up the Shop page to allow a customer to select a vendor’s product category first, and then load all the images in that category.
At the moment it’s a poor user experience just having all the items listed and a filter based on price or alphabetically.
Thank you!

KeymasterHello lmorum,
Not really sure if you talk about the MAIN SHOP page or the SINGLE VENDOR SHOP page.
In case 1 – you can simply set WooCommerce to only show categories on the shop page. This is not theme related. It’s a WooCommerce setting under Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog. You can also enable a sidebar with the Product Categories widget.
In case 2 – Again this is not theme related. It’s how the Multi-vendor plugins work. However, you can have a sidebar on those pages showing categories where the seller have products for sale.
Hope this helps.

ParticipantMy implementation of the marketplace is not like an Amazon where I have a distribution warehouse. Vendors sell direct to customers – so once a customer has selected his favourite store, we don’t want a customer to be taken away from their store to a competitor supermarket when searching for a product.
The main issues are:
1. That there is no dropdown list widget I can put on the Single Vendor Shop page to just show the categories associated with that Vendor.
2. There is also no search widget I can put on the same page, to show just the products associated with the same Vendor.Any suggestions?

KeymasterActually, no one is like Amazon. All wordpress multi-vendor websites work more like Etsy, not like Amazon. 🙂
1. As I already explained, most plugins would have a widget “Vendor categories”. At least WC Marketplace (the one we use in the demo) does
2. I am afraid there is no such functionality in those plugins. Both questions are not theme related. It’s how the plugins work. You’d need to consult with your plugin support team, as there is nothing that can be done or changed from the theme itself. May be they would be able to provide some sort of solution.
