OK, my all time favourite time of the month, asking a support question to my theme….not

I have already read the documentation regarding the mega menu, and the answer is not there. In fact, Images are not mentioned at all. I am quite sure that web designers, experts etc will all be able to answer this question in an instant…. I am not one of them. I am in fact a newbie, and as far as I can tell newbies are not restricted from purchasing althemist products.

I am unsure of the best way to replace the images on the mega menu. As my mega menu is working beautifully, as is the rest of my theme, I am hesitant to mess with in, without seeking some expert knowledge and “support”. Could anyone give a clear answer, aimed at someone with limited experience, preferably without scathing sarcasm or inpatient eye rolls (we can hear them this side of the monitor.

Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated

    Hey Miss S J Hall,

Of course newbies are not restricted from purchasing and using our themes and no one knows everything, that’s why we are here to help. 🙂

Basically, the first thing to remember when editing the mega menu is to do it under Appearance > Menus and not under Appearance > Customize > Menus.

Than, in order to place an image or other custom HTML you’d need to use a 3-rd level custom menu item (assuming the main menu item is 1st level, the Column in the mega menu is 2nd level and the item used for the image is under the column level).

When you create a “Custom Link” item for the 3rd level, you’d need to mark the checkbox for “Use the Description to create a Text Block” that is just bellow the “Highlight Menu Item” checkbox.

In the Description text field you’d need to place an “img” HTML tag for your image, just like we did in the demo.

The easiest way to do this is as follows:

    1. Create your image with the correct dimentions. In the demo we use an jpg image 317x367px for the Shop mega menu. You may adjust the size according to your needs and the mega menu size that you have, but this size is a good starting point.

    2. Upload that image to your media library and get it’s link

    3. Open the existing menu and replace the link to the image in the Shop sub menu item. Here is a screenshot:

That’s it if you just want to replace the existing images. If you want to place new one in a different position, just follow the instructions from the beginning.

    Hope this helps.

Should you have more questions, just let us know.

    Best regards,
    Dimitar
