Hi!

I want to show variations of each product (color, size, etc) in a drop down menu or a clickable option with a colour swatch image. How do I add this?
Now if I try to add a product attributes it only shows up as a toggle option and falls under “additional information”. This is written in text underneath the photo. Not what I’m looking for. Am I missing something? Do I need to download a plugin?

WooCommerce by default can only show product variations as drop-down, not toggle. Yuu can use additional plugins like WooCommerce variation swatches.

However, adding an attribute would not be enough. You’d also need to switch your products to variable products and create the variations.
