The product categories menu on my site has many entries and the result is that it is too long to properly show on screen. Is it possible to make it scrollable?

No, I am afraid this can’t be done. Most probably you’d need to re-organize your menu structure. If you give us a link to your site, where we can see the problem “live”, we may be able to give you advice on this.
