ParticipantHello,
When you visit the site from a mobile the user icon disappears. Is there another way for a user of the site to log in to his account?
Thank you,
LinaJuly 7, 2020 at 11:30 am #24184Althemist
KeymasterHi Lina,
On mobile devices the user icon (actually the entire Account section) and the Wishlist icon are moved inside the mobile menu. This is the standard practice and also it saves space in the header as there is just not enough room for everything in one line on smaller devices.

ParticipantHello,
Although I am familiar with this practice and I see the Wishlist icon inside the “burger” menu I do not see the User icon.
Is it possible to have it somehow disabled? Is there a way to bring it back?
Regards,
Lina

KeymasterHello Lina,
There is a setting to disable the icon under Theme Options > Shop > Show “My Account” Icon. May be it’s disabled accidentally?
The icon would only be available if WooCommerce is active, though.

ParticipantHello again,
The option you mentioned is enabled, but still, the icon for the log in is not visible for the mobile version.
You can see it in your demo, too: https://rigid.althemist.com/wc-marketplace/
Is there a way to make it visible?
Thank you,

KeymasterHello Lina,
What you describe is really strange. Could you, please tell us what’s your mobile device screen resolution?

KeymasterIs this on a real mobile device or in the mobile device emulator of the desktop browser?

ParticipantThe screenshot I sent you is from my desktop while I shrink the window on my Google Chrome browser.
Although, the same I am seeing from my mobile device as well.

KeymasterThe mobile emulator on desktop must be set with the right user agent in order to show the real mobile experience. On a real mobile device (phone, tablet) the account button should be present if the WooCommerce is active and the icon is not disabled under Theme Options > Shop tab. Do you see the account icons in the mobile menu on this site – https://althemist.com (on a real mobile phone)?

ParticipantIn https://althemist.com the account icon is present, in both mobile devices and on my desktop while I shrink the window.
The issue I am talking about is with this demo: https://rigid.althemist.com/
And I am facing the same issue with my demo site: https://demo.unboxmygift.com/

KeymasterAs I already explained, just “srinking the window” wouldn’t work. We are using a real is_mobile detection based on the device user agent. It works on a real mobile phone/tablet. Shrinking the browser window on desktop is still a desktop.

ParticipantHi Dimitar,
I have just noticed the same issue. It just appears to be that the my account icon does not appear while on the site’s homepage. I thought in my case it was because of the off canvas sidebar or the pre-header widget but you can see the issue on your demo site https://rigid.althemist.com.
Visit the site https://rigid.althemist.com and click on the mobile menu hamburger icon. The My Account icon does not appear in the mobile menu, only the wishlist icon. The “Home” menu is already expanded.
Click on the Home Classic Shop menu item. Now click on the mobile menu hamburger icon again. The My Account icon is now displayed with the wishlist icon. None of the menus are expanded.
Click on the “R” Site Icon to return to the site homepage and going into the mobile menu the My Account icon is missing again and the Home menu has been expanded.
I also have this issue on my category pages (in addition to the homepage, about us page etc) where the icon disappears but it does appear on product pages and on the shop page. Basically the icon should always be displayed as per the desktop?
Tested on an Android phone.
Kind regards,

ParticipantI have just set up a new website and installed the demo and the icon is present on every page… So, maybe it is something I have changed in the settings on my test site, I have cleared the page cache and tried again but still the issue on homepage and for product category. Not a problem for product pages, attribute (like brand) pages or any other pages now. It is not important for me at the moment because I am still testing settings and styles.
If you can find the problem on rigid.althemist.com it could be the same issue. I don’t think the expanded menu has anything to do with it because that looks exactly the same on the demo install I created and there is not a missing icon there.
Kind regards,
