No, placing it in a text box should work absolutely fine. Just make sure you are pasting the shortcode in the backend editor and the text editor is in TEXT mode, not VISUAL.

Everything seems fine to me. You just don’t have any vendors, so the shortcodes output is empty.

Not really sure what do you mean? Looks like what? As I already explained, it works, but you don’t have active vendor accounts on your site.
